Aging populations, rising healthcare costs and increasing surgical procedures continue to drive growth in medical applications for nonwovens. In a market where reliable protection, increased comfort and attractive pricing are constantly in balance, manufacturers and suppliers in the medical nonwovens market are constantly relying on innovation to fuel success.
Versatility is probably the key to this success. Manufacturers can design materials with different levels of breathability, fluid resistance, softness and durability depending on the products’ needs. This flexibility allows healthcare providers to meet strict safety standards while also improving comfort for professionals who wear protective equipment for long hours. Comfort is not a luxury—it can reduce fatigue and help healthcare workers perform their jobs more effectively.
While these demands are not new to medical nonwovens, achieving these attributes while reducing the overall environmental impact of the products is a growing requirement in medical applications.
